Lovely meal out last night, no pics as it was too dark for phone photography. The restaurant we were going to eat at was closed, the second choice looked deserted and a woman was pulling a wheelbarrow inside as we went passed- not a good sign we felt. We found a lovely restaurant that filled up quickly. I had the most delicious chocolate pudding- hot, very light, and with a melting chocolate centre - mmmm.
We are now waiting for our taxi to Avignon TGV station for a day of trains.
Picture is the view from our window.

Day 7 Apt to Cavaillon
Last day of summer cycling.
We set off early as the forecast is for strong winds again today- its obviously always windy in Cavaillon. Cycled through Bonnieux, Lacoste (good coffee stop), Menerbes (picnic lunch ), Oppede (lovely!). Now back in Cavaillon, bikes packed in bags, taxi booked to station as the cycle ride there is a little scary! Looking forward to a relaxed dinner now.

Day 6 continued
Today we did a circular route taking in Roussillon which is very picturesque, but full of tourists, and St-Saturnin-les-Apt where we had a very tasty lunch and visited a ruined chateau on top of the hill.

Day 5 continued
The day in pictures. The dried river bed was amazing. Lovely dinner too with live rhythm and blues singer. Great comedy moment when her three year old son arrived being towed around by a small dog. Also quite entertaining that I had to walk through the band to reach the loos, and the singer points the way as part of her performance!

Day 5 Reillanne to Apt
It looks like an easier day today- only 20 miles if we follow my route. However, my route yesterday sent us across every rough track it could find, avoiding Tarmac whenever possible. We did an extra 6 miles to avoid my route and followed the Velos signposting.
Day 4 Manosque to Reillanne
After a communal breakfast where we accidentally ate our cereal out of the coffee bowl (so embarrassing), we cycled into Manosque itself to stock up on food for the day. Not a great stock of food as it was Sunday, most ships shut. Note the disgusting orange drink in my bottle in one of the pictures.
Another hot and sunny day, but we battled on. Hilliest day so far, with the biggest hill being our last climb of the day. As you will see from the photo, the route has been officially way marked for us by someone from the Vinghoe Velos- thanks! We then descended about 2 miles to our Auberge for the night. So, a good hill start tomorrow.

Day 3 continued
A scorching hot day. We filled the water bottles, bought a picnic lunch and took to the road. Another day of about 35 miles, 800 meters of climb and lots of hilltop villages. We arrived at La Bastide de L'Adrech at about 5 pm. After showering, we sat in deckchairs looking at the view until dinner time. Dinner was humous and bread followed by stuffed aubergine followed by lamb and pearled spelt wheat followed by several goats cheeses and honey followed by a fruity spongy pudding followed by fresh herb tea! Phew! Ono photos because we were sitting around a large table with the other guests and our hosts for a lively and sociable meal. It does make my brain hurt trying to follow fast French conversation.

Day 2 Cavillon to Ansouis
A windy day again, but largely in our favour.
Just eaten a huge meal, can't do any blogging. Have some pictures:

Day 1, Ivinghoe to Cavaillon
This is Tring station at 5:50am. Very cold ride to the station. We arrived at St Pancras around 7:30. Packed bikes and caught 9am eurostar to lille. Tgv to avignon late as usual and arrived at 6 rather than 5. Thought about taxi but decided to build bikes and cycle the 15 miles to Cavaillon. Odd route down some dodgy fly tipped tracks but arrived at hotel by 8:15. Great dinner at local bistro. Food so simple but so good. Now feeling a bit tired.
